WellCTRL Engineering supported a valued client to regain control of a well with underground flow. The well integrity was compromised after a fracturing operation in an offset well, resulting in hydraulic communication between the subject well and the offset well. The pressure caused a failure in the casing, allowing fluid from the production zone to flow into a shallow formation.
WellCTRL Engineering provided remote and on-site engineering support to re-enter the well using a hydraulic workover unit and perform a dynamic kill operation. During the operation, reservoir pressure and potential flow rate were updated to improve the dynamic kill analysis. After the flow was stopped, the client secured the well for the repair and recovery phase.
